Selling Plan
Also known as: Selling plan group
A selling plan is Shopify's definition of how a product can be purchased on a recurring basis — the frequency, any subscription discount, and billing terms — and a selling plan group bundles related plans and attaches them to specific products, variants, or collections.
Before a customer can subscribe to a product, the store has to define the terms on offer: deliver every 2 weeks, every month, every 3 months, maybe with a 10% subscribe-and-save discount. Each of those offers is a selling plan. Related plans are organized into a selling plan group, which is what gets attached to the products or collections that should show subscription options.
When a shopper picks a subscription option and checks out, Shopify uses the selling plan to create the Subscription Contract with the right cadence and pricing. Selling plans are the bridge between 'this product can be subscribed to' and the actual recurring agreement.
In Curobi, creating a plan and applying it to a product, a specific variant, or an entire collection is the core setup step — most stores can build their first plan and add the widget to a product page in well under an hour.
